Means of Communication & Transportation in the city

Classroom: Ositos

Blog Theme: Means of Communication & Transportation in the city

Weekly Theme: Land Transportation

Week: From 1/1/2018 to 1/5/2018

What we are learning?

Dear Parents,

We hope you all have a wonderful start to the new year. During the month of January, we will learn about a new theme called “Means of Communication and Transportation in the City”. Children will get familiar with all different means of transport that we commonly use in our life. Through practical actions, we keep enlightening kids about how we commute from one place to another.

This week, in particular, children will gain knowledge about different types of land transports that move on roadways and railways and their importance in our life. This theme will be sure to satisfy their curiosity as children will discover convenient ways to get to places, road signs, and safety tips while on the road.  After the lesson, children will be able to explain appropriate times to cross a street, identify significant road signs and demonstrate road safety techniques.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue learning through fun experiences.  Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.

  • On Tuesday, children will explore and identify every type of land transportation. They will be able to compare and distinguish all the types.

  • On Wednesday, children will discover everything about cars. They will play with cars and highways. Children will also work on creating car plates as a craft.

  • On Thursday, children will discover everything about trains. They will also create their favorite means of transportation.

  • On Friday, children will learn about road signs and the importance of them.

Following our curriculum in writing and math, children will learn the letter N and the number 11 and the different concepts of quantity and number.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

  • Art fair on January 16th, 2018 through January 26th, 2018.

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Travelling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these wonderful activities as these 2 are the children favorites! Both activities allow every child to make and share memories with their classmates.

For the student of the week activity, every week a child is given a set week that he/she are the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports/hobbies, animals or anything they are interested in. Also, on their week parents and the student of the week may pick a day to present the poster and the book to the class. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and child will enjoy bonding time and make new memories and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week parents and the child should bring to school a collage of pictures and a brief description of what they did with the pet. The parent should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.

Friendly Reminders

Song of the Week – A Volar

Poems

#1
Son muchos los medios de locomoción
Los hay terrestres
Como el camión
Otros son acuáticos
Como el gran vapor
Y de los aéreos
El mayor de todos
Es el avión

#2
Quiero un barco de colores
Un avión para volar
Una moto de carreras
Y un gran autocar
Para ir con mis amigos
Por el cielo y por el mar
Y por la tierra redondita
Muchas vueltas dar.

Riddles

#1
Va por el cielo
Como ventarrón
Lleva pasajeros
Y anda a motor
El avión

#2
Tiene motor , Cuatro ruedas
Ventanillas sin cortinas
Un timón negro y también una bocina
El carro

Tongue Twisters

Corre corre rapidito
Solo para en la estación
Corre corre rapidito

Que el tren ya te dejó.

¿Qué es la navidad?
Pregunté a mamá
Un día muy dulce como el mazapán
¿Qué es la navidad?
Pregunté a papá
Un día muy lindo donde aprendemos a dar
¿Qué es la navidad?
Pregunté a mi abuela
