Weekly Featured Theme: Getting to know Asia

Week: February 27^th to March 3^rd, 2017

🔠 What are we learning?

Dear Ositos Parents,

We are starting a new theme for the month of March called “People and Music around the World”. This coming week we will learn everything about Asia continent, in particular about China and Japan. We will talk about music, their people, their traditions and culture. Children will discover interesting facts about Asia geography and location, its fauna and flora and its traditional cuisine.

We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills. This week the activities are oriented to the exploration and discovery of a new wonderful culture by participating in fun live experience events.

We will also review the number 16, the pentagon geometric shape and the concept of full and empty.

Our travelling Pet “Willy” will be visiting the home of Elizabeth Karr this week.

Weekly Featured Theme: Science Fair

Week: February 20^th to February 24^th, 2017

🔠 What are we learning?

Dear Ositos Parents,

We will continue with our theme called “Green Earth”. We will discuss about science. We don’t have to be scientists or be an expert in complicated formulas to teach our children about the significance of science, we just need to show interest in discovering and exploring our surroundings. It is our job to encourage children to be curious and let them ask questions since this will allow them to develop confidence to explore and investigate while they play and have fun.

We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills. This week the activities are oriented to the exploration and investigation with our senses. We will be also learning about the scientific method and its stages as well as everything related to the magnetism. We will also have our science fair all this week and children will show their projects to classmates of other classrooms.

Our travelling Pet “Willy” will be visiting the home of Laura Sofia Becerra this week.

Weekly Featured Theme: Saving our planet/Valentine’s Day Project

Week: February 13^th to February 17^th, 2017

🔠 What are we learning?

Dear Ositos Parents,

We will continue with our theme called “Green Earth”. We will discuss about the pollution in our planet and how we can help to take care of our planet.

Children will learn about the actions that can help keep our planet clean and without pollution. We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills as well as to teach them important things they can do to reduce pollution and take care of our environment. For Valentine’s Day we will have a special celebration.

Our travelling Pet “Willy” will be visiting the home of Henry Hofpar this week. Family Hofpar, Willy likes to wake up in the middle of the night and look for honey!

Dear Abejitas Parents,

Happy New Year!

It’s such a pleasure seeing everyone achieve so many milestones! In this upcoming week, we will make Valentine’s day art, explore the world around us using our five senses, and engage in everyday learning through play. Strengthening our fine and gross motor skills using a ball, the slide, and our classroom toys.

We will be using our sensory bottles to participate in the science fair.

📄 Materials for Special Projects

• Have your child wear a red or pink t-shirt on Valentine’s Day.
• Bring a family picture if you have not done it yet.
• Bring small plastic bottles to be used as sensory bottles. These must be cleaned and can be opened.

🔆 Friendly Reminders

·         Wear shoe covers and wash your hands and your child hands when entering your child’s classroom.

·         Knock before entering the classroom to make sure there is no one behind the door

·         Wash your hands and your child’s hands once you enter the classroom.

·         Always make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby and label it with your child’s name

·         Bring diapers, wipes and rash ointment and label them with your child’s name.

·         Bring your child’s bottles labeled with your child’s name and date.

·         Read, review and fill out your child’s journal with information for the teacher and make sure to add last change of diaper and time of your child’s last meal.

Week: February 6^th to February 10^th, 2017.

🔠 What are we learning?

Dear Ositos Parents,

We will continue with our theme called “Green Earth”. This week we will learn about dinosaurs, the sun, moon and the stars as well as atmospheric phenomena such as snow and rainbows. We will continue talking about caves and volcanos and other prehistoric places.

We have scheduled exciting and fun learning activities in regards to this theme that keep strengthening motor, cognitive/sensorial and language skills.  Children will learn through experiences so they can use their creativity and imagination through art project. This week we will create the solar system with recycled material such as paper plates.

Our travelling Pet “Willy” will be visiting the home of Mallory Torres this week.
