The Animal Kingdom

Classroom: Ositos
Blog Title: The Animal Kingdom
Weekly Feature Theme: Domestic and Wild Animals
Week: May 1st to May 5th, 2017
Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a beautiful week. This month our theme is “The Animal Kingdom”. This coming week we will learn everything about domestic animals (particularly farm animals) and wild animals (particularly felines and primates). Children will explore and discover interesting facts about their habitat and the food they eat. They will learn to care and respect them since they are part of our environment.
We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills Children will continue learning to work as a team and enjoy playing with their classmates.
Children will also continue to work on their reading and writing skills. This week they will review the letter W and X. And in Math, they will review the number 20. We encourage you to keep working with your child at home by asking questions about the day at school and what they have learnt.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

·         Remember your child to wash his/her hands when entering the classroom and before leaving the school. This is the best way to prevent illnesses.
·         Make sure to bring your child on time so he/she can participate in circle time. This activity starts at 8:45am and will stimulate and strengthen skills in all areas.
·         Read your child’s journal, blogs and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.
·         Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate in the scheduled activities at school.
·         Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.
·         Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.
·         Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.
·         Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day, if your child has not been potty-trained yet.
·         If your child is bringing a lunch box, please label it with your child’s name and date and place it in the kitchen refrigerator.

Song of the Week
ANIMALES DE LA GRANJA
Mi abuelita tiene, una granja bella
Con animalitos y flores muy bellas,
Ahora este jueguito de imitar sonidos
Tú lo haces primero y luego tu amiguito (x2)
El perrito ladra (sonido)
El gato maulla (sonido)
El gallito canta (sonido)
La vaca estornuda (sonido)
El conejo salta
El caballo trota
Y los pajaritos la canción entonan(x2)
ANIMALES DE LA SELVA
Los animales que hay en la selva,
Tú los vas repetir,
Algunos gordos otros muy altos
Igual nos vamos a divertir.
El elefante que está muy grande
Y la jirafa que alta es
Y el monito que salta y salta
El cocodrilo… me va a morder
Los animales…….

Es un león que esta enojón
Es la serpiente que es muy decente
Y la tortuga come lechuga
Y el ratón (donde está el ratón?)
Ya se escondió.
Los animales…….
